CAS OPENS REGISTRATION FOR FIFTH ANNUAL KIDSMARATHON!

C’mon CT KiDS let’s get moving! 2013 KiDSMARATHON registration is open for schools to sign up for an amazing life fitness program that can be easily implemented in any setting. KiDSMARATHON is an eight week training program for students, ages 7-12, that will culminate in four celebrations in May and June across Connecticut as young runners complete the last leg of their marathon in front of hundreds of fans! GENO'S READING TEAM REGISTRATION OPEN!

The Connecticut Association of Schools is pleased to report that registration is open for your school to partner with UCONN coach Geno Auriemma and the UCONN Womens Basketball Team to join Geno’s Reading Team, an incentive reading program designed to enhance your students’ reading skills. [more]

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION CREATES PRINCIPAL AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

The NASSP and NAESP are pleased to announce that, at the urging of their two national organizations, the US Department of Education has begun the creation of the Principal Ambassador Fellowship Program. The program will be administered by the department similar to the successful Teacher Ambassador Program. This year, three principals will be selected to serve as advisors to Secretary Arne Duncan and the departmental staff to, as the Secretary has described the role, “provide input on policy from the principal’s perspective.” [more]

LATEST UPDATE ON IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW EVALUATION SYSTEM

On Monday, February 4th, the Performance Evaluation Advisory Council (PEAC) reached consensus on what will be a bridge year for implementing the new evaluation system and on what the state responsibility should be for bearing the cost of the new system. [more]
