HIGH SCHOOL ARTS AWARDS RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED

On Monday, April 1, 2013, CAS hosted the Eighteenth Annual High School Arts Awards Recognition Banquet at the Aqua Turf Club in Planstville. The event, sponsored by Jostens and Bearingstar Insurance, was attended by more than 1300 guests and honored 295 seniors of CAS member high schools who excel in the visual and performing arts. REGISTRATION OPEN FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT LEADERSHIP SUMMER CONFERENCE

CAS-CIAC has joined with the state associations in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine to offer a summer Student Leadership Conference, July 16-19, 2013 at Stonehill College in N. Easton, MA. This conference is a four-day, residential leadership event for over 300 students and adult leaders who participate in interscholastic athletics and activity programs through their state high school athletics/activities association. U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION CREATES PRINCIPAL AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

The NASSP and NAESP are pleased to announce that, at the urging of their two national organizations, the US Department of Education has begun the creation of the Principal Ambassador Fellowship Program. The program will be administered by the department similar to the successful Teacher Ambassador Program. This year, three principals will be selected to serve as advisors to Secretary Arne Duncan and the departmental staff to, as the Secretary has described the role, “provide input on policy from the principal’s perspective.” [more]

DOES YOUR ADVISORY PROGRAM NEED A “TUNE-UP”?

CAS is pleased to offer a half-day workshop on June 11, 2013 for school teams with established advisory programs to undergo a structured review and evaluation of their current program. Participants will re-visit the components of their advisory program and refine their goals, grouping, scheduling, curriculum, advisor roles and responsibilities, materials and resources, and linkages to other school programs. Intended for schools with student advisory programs already in place. [more]
