LEGAL MAILBAG

The Legal Mailbag column is written by Attorney Thomas Mooney of the University of Connecticut's Neag School of Education. Readers are invited to submit short, law-related questions of practical concern to school administrators. One question and its answer will be published in this column each week. Questions may be edited; authors will
not be identified; and answers cannot be considered formal legal advice. Please submit questions to: legalmailbag@casciac.org

lm_2.jpgDEAR LEGAL MAILBAG:

For the last five years as the principal of an elementary school, I have done my very best to stay under the radar of the board of education. I appreciate the public service of the board members and all, but they are really a bunch of nosy parkers who should get a life. Why am I telling you this, you ask.

cas_white.jpgBE PART OF THE CAS-CIAC NETWORK – VOLUNTEER NOW!

The quality and effectiveness of our programs and services are dependent upon the volunteer efforts of our member school administrators through their work on our various committees. If you are not already actively serving the association, please consider volunteering! We encourage new faces to join the network of those who help make CAS-CIAC the premiere education organization in Connecticut. Serving on a committee is not time-intensive or burdensome; and members find that the total experience of being active at the state level is valuable to them and, ultimately, their school. Our committee work spans a wide range of areas, from student leadership to sports to recognition. We are asking new and veteran members to complete the 2018-19 volunteer solicitation form.
