Last Call for High  School Arts Banquet - Seeking Student to Sing National Anthem

The banquet, for seniors who excel in either the performing or visual arts, will be held on Tuesday, April 8th at the Aqua Turf. This year's keynote speaker will be Edward Cummings, Primrose Fuller Professor of Orchestral Studies at The Hartt School-University of Hartford. CAS Offers Teacher Leadership
Workshop Series

The five-day workshop series will address key topics such as: instructional leadership; leading change; analyzing personal leadership capacities and those of their colleagues; developing a personal Theory of Action; conducting difficult conversations as a prelude to change; establishing and sustaining PLCs; and, working with diverse perspectives.

Football Rule Changes Address Safety Concerns

ciac_football.jpgIn an effort to reduce contact above the shoulders and lessen the risk of injury in high school football, the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Football Rules Committee developed a definition for “targeting,” which will be penalized as illegal personal contact. The definition of targeting and its related penalty were two of 10 rules changes approved by the NFHS last month. # MORE

2014 Challenge to Educational Citizenship Awards

csde.jpgThe state department of education is now accepting submissions from Connecticut middle and high schools for the statewide Challenge to Educational Citizenship Awards. Any student-organized activity that represents a "good deed" is eligible for submission. # MORE



CCSS Field Test Manual Available

smarter_balanced_2.jpgThe Smarter Balanced Test Administration Manual (TAM) for the Field Test is now available on the Smarter Balanced Field Test portal. The manual provides information regarding test security, test administration, accessibility and accommodations options available to students, and other information that is critical to ensuring a successful field test experience for educators and students. The manual, along with ten online training modules, should be used to prepare educators and students for the Smarter Balanced Field Test. # MORE
