Minutes
In attendance were: Rochelle Schwartz, Judy Abrams and Earle Bidwell
1. Teacher and School of the Year Celebrations: Judy and Rochelle reported on the celebrations they attended. Each was held at school; the school of the year at a town meeting attended by the entire student body; the teacher of the year at a luncheon during an in-service day. Both were characterized by large numbers in attendance and appropriate recognition. Judy also reported feeling honored to be able to “pass the baton” and present the award to her successor.
2. Teacher of the Year Selection Process: In an effort to improve the process, the previously used score sheet will be replaced by a rubric. The rubric will have the same three areas (standards) as the previous document and will have three levels (proficient, professional and exemplary). The rubric will be developed at the next committee meeting. An online search will be conducted to see if there are already rubrics that can be used.
