High School Professional Studies Committee Minutes
October 26, 2006
Present: Alan Addley, Kristen Della Volpa, Scott Leslie, Stephen Murphy, Karissa Niehoff, Linda Yankowski, Dennis Carrithers
1. The publication on Assessment is ready as far as school submissions are concerned. We are awaiting an introduction by a member of the NEASC staff.
2. In response to a question on use of supplementary materials in an appendix, the consensus of the committee was to limit to a few samples kept within the school section rather than a lengthy appendix.
3. Discussion of a topic for this year led to a focus of expanding the CAS website to include items of interest that could be archived and available to all member schools. Ideas such as student handbooks, athletic handbooks, club advisor handbooks, class advisor notebooks, and bell schedules were generated.
4. Dennis will email high school principals to convey the idea and ask for suggestions.
5. Topics for a publication this year included discipline, a high school best practices study, and use of rubrics.
6. Next committee meeting date is Monday, December 6, at CAS at noon. The committee will also be exploring ways the expansion of the CAS website and review responses to the email solicitation.
