January 17, 2008
In attendance were: Fred Baruzzi, Richard Dellinger, Ida Hickerson, Jaret Kulmann, David Russell, Donna Schilke and Earle Bidwell
1. Exemplary Practices Updates:
a. Climate
i. Ida Hickerson reported that Chippens Hill Middle School was visited by Jim Slattery, Marjorie Jackson, Jeff Fournier and herself. The report will be forthcoming at the next meeting.
ii. John Winthrop Middle School will be visited on January 28th by Sue Dumas, Jaret Kulmann, Earle Bidwell and either David Pearson or Fred Baruzzi.
b. Teaming
i. Richard Dellinger and David Russell shared their report on Dodd Middle School. The committee unanimously endorsed their recommendation to grant exemplary teaming status to Dodd Middle School.
2. Exemplary Practices (Re-certification for schools beyond 3 years) Invitation to reapply letters will be going out this week to the schools whose status has expired.
3. Exemplary Practices: Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
a. Work Session: Donna Schilke presented a draft of Recommendation #30. the committee spend considerable time reviewing, validating and revising the draft. Earle Bidwell will make the corrections from his notes and send them to Donna for her review.
b. Materials for Recommendation # 24 were distributed and committee members in attendance agreed to prepare parts of the draft for the next meeting. Ida will prepare strategy 1; Dave, strategy 2; Fred, strategy 3; Jaret, strategy 4; Earle strategies 5 and 7; Rich, strategy 6 and Donna Strategy 8. Earle will email the blank document.
