In attendance were: Norma Posocco, Judy Abrams, Rick Watson, Brian Benigni, Tom Heffernan, Lysette Torres and Earle Bidwell
1. Selection of finalists for Educator of the Year: Gerard Ryan, Brenda Washington, Carolyn Stanley and Gail Thibodeau were selected as finalists. All will be interviewed on May 4, 2009 beginning at 3:00 p.m.
2. Selection of finalists for School of the Year: Hartford Magnet Middle School and John Winthrop Middle School were selected as finalists for School of the Year. Self assessment will be mailed to two finalists and they will be visited on May 12

4. The School of the Year Self Assessment has been revised thanks to committee members’ work online. Earle will assign primary responsibility for each section to committee members.
5. Assistant Executive Director’s Report
a. CAS has submitted a position paper on Secondary School Reform to the legislature stating that it should go forward and that CT should seek stimulus funds to support it.
b. Horace Mann Insurance Company has become a corporate partner for Arts in the Middle. In addition to allocation a cash amount, they will increase the amount by $5.00 for any middle level educator who requests a quote on insurance.
