Connecticut Association of Schools Middle Level Honors and Awards Committee Minutes November 9, 2009
In attendance were: Judy Abrams, Brian Benigni, Karen Habegger, Norma Posocco, Rochelle Schwartz, Lysette Torres and Earle Bidwell
For the benefits of newcomers, Earle Bidwell reviewed the awards that come under the purview of the committee. They are: School of the Year, Educator of the Year, Hometown Heroes candidates and William Cieslukowski First Year Principal Award.
Norma Posocco explained the role of the full committee in selecting finalists for the awards and the two sub-committees that interview educator finalists and visit school finalist. The assignments for the 2009-2010 school year are:

Celebrations John Winthrop Middle School is the 2009-2010 School of the Year Gail Thibodeau is the 2009-2010 Exemplary Educator Hometown Heroes recognized by Ronald McDonald House Charities were: Gail Thibodeau and Kendra Washington William Cieslukowski First Year Principal Award winner was John Fidler from East Hampton Middle School
The SOY visiting committee decided to request that the Professional Studies committee grant Exemplary School Climate status to Hartford Magnet Middle School based on their visit to the school in May 2009.
