Connecticut Association of Schools Professional Studies Committee Minutes May 1, 2003 In attendance were, Ann Richardson, Ralph White, Fred Baruzzi, Ann Cox, Charles Hines, Diane Hartman-Chesley, Sue Dumas, James Slattery, Carole Alvaro, Laurie Slade
1.0 Exemplary Practices - Teaming 1.1 The committee reviewed the procedure from reading the minutes of the last meeting 1.2 Questions were developed for the site visit (attached) 1.3 Ideas for visit. Can we sub-divide? Group wants to speak with: students, a variety of teams, administrative team, spotlight team, unified arts team, sped team, exit interview. They also want time to wander the school. Attending on Monday, May 5 are Chip Hines, Ann Cox, Ralph White, Laurie Slade, Sue Dumas, Carole Alvaro, Diane Hartman, Ann Richardson 1.4 Secure Two Teams of Volunteer Assessors: Griswold visit; Hines, Hartman, White, Slattery, Baruzzi, Richardson, Shelton visit; Cox, Hartman, White, Slattery, Baruzzi. Each will attend one. 1.5 Brainstorm Possible New Area for Consideration: How to increase work ethic, appropriate standards for homework, grading practices, master schedule, developing responsible behavior, delivery of middle level curriculum, (see page 11 of Elements booklet.) Highlight what is working in schools that is positive, perhaps use spotlight schools to help. 2.0 IMPACT Spoke about needing 5 more articles. The next meeting is June 5. 3.0 Future Agenda Items and Adjournment : review Elements booklet, select new focus and brainstorm topics for too3-3004.
