Middle Level fine Arts Committee Minutes September 25, 2003
In attendance were: Barbara Ripa, Meg Shea, Vaughn Ramseur and Earle Bidwell
1. Budget Sponsor(s) Earle Bidwell reported that the final tally showed that last years event was closer to budget by about $3,000 over the previous year. The Board of Directors requires that we have a reasonable expectation that this years event (and all CAS events) will at least break even. Consequently, the committee needs to explore revenue sources. After discussion that included brainstorming possible sponsors, the idea of using patrons and strategies, the following was concluded. a. A promotional packet including an executive summary, conference materials and pictures should be prepared for committee members to share with potential sponsors b. Mr. Bidwell will determine what incentives are appropriate to offer to potential sponsors such as Bulletin recognition, IMPACT, signage, media exposure, brochures, art displays in their business locations, wall of fame at CAS, website link etc. c. Potential sponsors might include art supply houses, school photographers, art gallery boards
2. Presenters. It was determined that we should start to find presenters for the event in the fall this year. The committee reviewed the list of presenters from the past two years and determined which ones should receive a letter soliciting interest. As there are too many to send to all, the list was culled to a more manageable size. Mr. Bidwell will draft a letter. a. Are there other media that we want to consider? b. Before proceeding, we need to contact Dean Calafiore to be certain that we are welcome back for another season. 3. Please note that due to schedule conflict, the next meeting is October 27,2003
