November 10, 2003
In attendance were: Marie Castle-Good, Carol Janssen, Scott Nicol, Michael Rafferty, Jeffrey Schumann, Rochelle Schwartz and Earle Bidwell
1. Winter Conference
a. The Conference Schedule developed by the joint sub-committee was approved. It features a keynote session, two breakout times, a forum-exhibitor time and a lunch with a luncheon speaker.
b. The Luncheon Speaker is to be determined. Mike Buckley and Earle Bidwell will secure a speaker from the list suggested at the sub-committee meeting.
c. Breakout Speakers will be secured. The following will be asked to provide the middle level sessions. Sue Dumas, Mystic Middle School; Nancy Barry, Maybelle Avery M.S.; Catherine Carbone, E. Hartford M.S., Attorney Tom Mooney, Bob Spear from NELMS and Tom Dzicek from Capt. Nathan Hale Middle School.
d. Middle Level Forum panel will be headed by Scott Nicol, Assistant Principal from Vernon Center M.S.; Jody Goeler, principal of Avon M.S. and one more to be determined. CAS will offer registration and lunch for up to four presenters.
e. Registration: Participants will be asked to select their top three choices from among the 16 workshops offered. CAS support personnel will then assign workshops choices and times.
2. Executive Director’s Report: Earle Bidwell reported on successful celebrations for Teacher of the Year, Principal of the Year and School of the Year in the communities of the recipients. Carol Janssen shared highlights from the NMSA Convention in Atlanta.
3. Review of Teacher of the Year Application: Tabled
