December 8, 2003
In attendance were Marie Castle-Good, Carol Janssen, Sal Menzo, Scott Nicol, Michael Rafferty and Earle Bidwell
1. Winter Conference Update: Earle Bidwell reported that all breakout sessions have been filled and the line-up of presenters looks particularly strong. Registration material has been mailed and participants will be given their first choice for each of the sessions. CAS will prepare handouts at the request of presenters. The luncheon speaker is Susan Frost, head of the Alliance for Excellence in Education.
2. Michael Rafferty will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the luncheon and host for Susan Frost. It was noted that Bob Spear should be invited to bring a greeting from NELMS. Earle will inquire if there will be any door prizes.
3. Committee members will serve as hosts and introduce presenters at each breakout session. Rochelle Schwartz will host the Mabelle Avery team, Scott Nicol will host Kate Carbone and David Welch, and Carol Janssen will host Bob Spear. Absent members will be contacted by the CAS staff and asked to host the remaining middle level presenters.
4. Committee members will sit at different tables during lunch to facilitate conversation and to make participants feel welcome.
5. The forum on bullying legislation will feature a brief introduction by the three presenters and interaction among all participants. Scott Nicol will contact Jody Goeler and Joanne Freiberg.
6. The committee reviewed the Teacher of the Year Application and recommended no changes. Janice Grecco will be asked to change the dates and get the information out in January.
The January 12, 2004 meeting will be cancelled. The next meeting will be
February 9, 2004 at 3:30
