M.L. Fine Arts
Minutes from meeting of 3/25/2004

Middle Level Fine Arts Committee
Minutes
March 25, 2004

In attendance were Meg Shea, Barbara Ripa, Vaughn Ramseur and Earle Bidwell

Brochures for “Arts in the Middle” have been prepared and will be in the mail tomorrow. Furthermore, principals will be alerted via the CAS weekly e-mail events calendar; also on Friday.

To date there are 10 confirmed presenters in nine different media, the same number we ultimately worked with last year. Artist, Paul Hoffman, is attempting to secure one or two more, as is Vaughn Ramseur. A new medium this year is portrait painting. We are also working with two artists new to the conference.

Although Joyce St. Germaine was not able to be in attendance at the meeting, she has been very instrumental in securing artists.

The confirmation letter and materials order form were revised. Meg Shea will handle all materials orders. The orders are due at CAS by April 12 and Meg will be at CAS the following week to assign supplies and to create the orders for Artist Alternative and other vendors.

A discussion of sponsorship ensued. While efforts by Vaughn, Meg and Earle have not produced any firm commitments to date; there was general support in looking in to an art auction for possible funding. Meg will attempt to attend one to obtain further information. The auction would be no earlier that the fall of 2004 to support the 2005 conference.

The meeting scheduled for April 29th has been cancelled. The next meeting will be on May 6, 2004 to assemble the packets.
