M.L. Professional Studies Committee Minutes from meeting of 5/6/2004
In attendance were Ann Richardson, Fred Baruzzi, Diane Hartman Chesley, Charles Hines, Sandra Inga, Sue Dumas and Ralph White.
1. Exemplary Practice Teaming. The committee reviewed and suggested changes in a draft of a letter that will be sent to schools that have been honored by CAS or other organizations. The letter will invite these schools to consider applying for exemplary teaming recognition.
2. Exemplary Practice School Climate Work in progress. The committee spent the majority of their time working on the first twelve items in the self assessment-scoring instrument. Their work will be recorded and reflected in the next draft of the document.
3. Assistant Executive Directors Report. Beginning this month, the CAS Middle Level Division inaugurates a new on-line series of articles on advocacy that will be available to member schools. Initially, the articles will focus on middle level issues and be directed toward an audience of parents and other community members. The articles will appear in a PDF format suitable for downloading and reproducing in school or PTO newsletters. Principals of member schools can access Advocacy Articles by going to the Member Schools section of the CAS website, www.casciac.org.
4. New Meeting Dates. The Professional Studies Committee meetings will be held on the third Thursday of the month in 2004-2005.
