Connecticut Association of Schools
Middle Level Fine Arts Committee
Minutes
September 27, 2004

In attendance were: Vaughn Ramseur, Barbara Ripa, Meg Shea and Earle Bidwell

1.0 Review of 2004 Fine Arts Conference: Reports from committee members and participants indicated a high degree of satisfaction with the conference. The only area of concern was about directions to the campus. A cursory look at the website might lead one to a different campus. It was suggested that we also try to expand our program offerings and attempt to get more schools involved.

2.0 Funding for 2005: A grant was obtained from the Greater Hartford Arts Council to help defray expenses. Other grant opportunities will be pursued during the course of the year for this or next year’s event. A potential partner will be invited to join the committee and to attend this year’s event. Earle Bidwell will make the contact. Consideration of an art auction as a funding source has been tabled to another time.

3.0 2005 Conference: Date: May 17, 2005. Vaughn Ramseur will confirm details with Dean Calafiore and the food service people at the university. Janice will be asked to send letters to presenters from the past two years to determine their interest. In addition, they will be asked if they know other area artists that may want to participate.

4.0 Barbara Ripa shared a large set of great pictures from last year’s event. Meg Shea will use some of them to create a display for the CAS office to elicit interest.

5.0 Meg Shea will coordinate an inventory of art supplies at CAS. Others have volunteered to help. To facilitate this, Earle will purchase shelving and tubs for the art supplies.
