Present: Laura Ferrantes-Fernandes, Marie Hopkins, Jessie Ballenger, Sally Biggs, Dennis Carrithers
1) Committee Assignments
--Course booklet: committee members were assigned colleges and universities to call to confirm this year’s participation
--Scheduling the Governor: this year’s luncheon is scheduled for May 25 at noon at the Aqua Turf in Southington and the Governor’s office has been informed.
--Lunch menu: Lorraine to arrange
--Music: Jessie will schedule a musical group from Danbury High School
2) Application
The application will be the same as last year. Laura and Lorraine developed some essay topics and based on committee members’ responses by email following the meeting, selected “What, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?” The selection criteria sheet was revised.
3) Communications
Dennis will write school principals to request professional days for committee members to attend selection day, which will be March 3, 2005 at CAS beginning at 8:00 a.m.
4) Timeline
December 20, 2004: all colleges to be confirmed for course booklet
January 6, 2005: Applications mailed to high schools
February 10, 2005: Applications due to CAS
March 3, 2005: Next committee meeting for selection of recipients
