Present: Arthur Arpin, Donna Hayward, Andrea Lavery, Lisa Wolak, Linda Yankowski, Dennis Carrithers
1. Art presented a summary of the meeting the CAPSS executive director Dave Larson and Richard Carmelich, chair of the CAPSS Policy Committee on February 3, 2005. As a continuation of the January 10th meeting at the CAPSS office, it was decided that CAS and CAPSS are to pursue jointly initiatives to improve the position and structure of the high school principalship. Given the number of vacancies forecast, the drop in the number of candidates, and the demands of the job, there is interest to examine research currently being done on the position. Dave will check with Mark Shibles, Richard with John Ramos from the DOE, and Dennis with Phil Streifer. The superintendents will attend our next meeting on March 22, at noon, at CAS.
2. All responses received to date for this year’s study of “Personalizing the School Environment” were reviewed and categorized. The plan for the monograph will be to feature new or unique programs. Committee members are urged to stay alert to good programs that could be included that were not submitted in written form.
3. The next meeting of the committee will be March 22, at noon, in the CAS office.
