M.L. Leadership Committee
Minutes from meeting of 10/1/2002
In attendance were: Jody Goeler, Tom Heffernan, Janie Newman, Troy Monroe, Earle Bidwell and Joe ScheidelerThe committee was reminded that we have a two-year commitment to the theme “Making Acceptance Acceptable.”
The committee enthusiastically endorsed Jamie Newman’s recommendation to ask Berlin eighth grader, Matt Cavadin to be the keynote speaker. He will be suggested that “No Boundaries” be considered as a Topic.
The “Avon Arioso Choir” will perform at the opening. They will be performing current music written around the theme “human rights”.
“Looking In Theatre” will not be part of this year’s conference. Possible replacements are Rockville High School, Leonard Tyl Middle School, and Canton High School. Arrangements will be made to visit these programs. The committee would like to consider one or two of these groups.
Committee members will solicit presenters before the next meeting.
The Arthur Director Award is being presented to the Catherine McGee Middle School in Berlin on October 8, 2002.
The next meeting will be a pizza supper meeting on November 5, 2002.
Addendum to minutes:
At an earlier meeting it was determined that the Connecticut Association of Student Councils be invited to join us in presenting the conference. In a conversation with CASC consultant, Ron Nedovich, an offer was made for the CASC to provide all of the high school student presenters.
