September 22, 2005
Summary

Present: Janet Garagliano, Chair; Sue Homrok, Scott Leslie, John Lineen, Dave Maloney, Kirk Murad, Arlene Salvati, Staff, Dennis Carrithers, Staff

1. Welcome and introductions of new members
2. SABC Goals for this year:
a) Continue to advance the organization and support for student activities to eventually achieve comparability to the CIAC role for athletics.
b) Provide support for advisors.
c) Collect information on fundraising activities as a resource of sharing and communications available to schools
d) Develop procedures to include dance team competitions under the auspices of SABC. Dennis will contact the state leaders of dance team coaches and explore proposals from them for the October meeting agenda.
3. Janet will do some further exploration of the topic of a service learning conference, which has been a topic of discussion in the past. The Board needs clarification as to the meaning of the term and goals for SABC. This item was tabled until the October meeting.

5. Information was received regarding a New England Cheerleading competition and discussion was tabled pending a recommendation from the state cheerleading coaches leadership.
6. Various applications for board approval were read as samples of the work the Board does in evaluating requests for SABC approval. Approved activities will be entered on the CAS website.
7. The University of Connecticut Science and Humanities Symposium was not approved as its planned date in March conflicts with CAPT.
8. Next meeting will be October 27 at 3:00 p.m.
