High School Professional Studies Committee Minutes
September 28, 2005
Present: Alan Addley, Karissa Niehoff, Linda Yankowski, Dennis Carrithers
1. Art Arpin, chair of the committee has announced that he will become Human Resources Director in the East Hartford Public Schools and will not be able to continue as chair of the committee.
2. Linda Yankowski volunteered to serve as chair.
3. A draft of the publication worked on last school year was reviewed. It was suggested there be statement in the introduction acknowledging that the collection features school programs with the understanding that we recognize the substantial effort to personalize schools comes from teachers. The topic of personalization in the classroom is a subject of considerable research and publication.
4. When the publication is completed, it will be sent to a printer with the goal of having it mailed to schools in October.
5. Considerable discussion followed regarding themes for this year’s work of the committee. Dennis will send out by email a request of principals to offer suggestions for topics.
6. Next meeting will be at noon on October 24, 2005, at the CAS office.
