September 21, 2005
1. Discussion Items
a. Committee Structure and Membership: A small group gathered to discuss committee membership. Illness and new positions have shrunk the size of the committee and new members are needed. It was decided that Earle Bidwell would call principals of five schools that have participated in Arts in the Middle. Principals will be asked to encourage their art teachers to join the committee. A follow-up e-mail will suggest that art teachers contact Meg Shea to discuss the opportunity. Jen Chase from Northeast Middle School in Bristol has joined the committee. Welcome! Earle will contact Jen with information about the committee and directions to Cheshire.
b. Inventory Supplies: Meg Shea will schedule an afternoon in the next month when she can conduct an inventory of left over supplies.
c. Funding: When the inventory is complete and it is determined what supplies are necessary, Earle Bidwell will contact ColArt to inquire as to their willingness to contribute supplies again this year.
2. Arts in the Middle 2006
a. CAS staff will confirm the tentative date of May 16, 2006 with Dean Calafiore at the Hartford Art School
b. Secure Artists (tabled to next meeting)
c. Publicity :a “save the date” flyer will go out after the date is confirmed
3. Meeting Dates and Place: Due to scheduling conflicts, the next meeting has been scheduled for November 10, 2005 at the CAS office. There will not be an October meeting. The December meeting will be scheduled for a West Hartford-Farmington area restaurant to accommodate committee members, all of whom live north of Cheshire.
