High School Professional Studies Committee Minutes
December 12, 2005
Present: Donna Hayward, Andrea Lavery, Scott Leslie, Stephen Murphy, Michelle Saulis, Linda Yankowski, Dennis Carrithers
1. Minutes of the October 24th meeting were read and approved.
2. The committee’s publication on Personalized Learning Environments was distributed. It is being mailed on December 12 to all high school principals and assistant principals.
3. The committee reviewed the suggestions received from committee members on questions relevant to a publication on assessment.
4. After further discussion, the committee decided to survey high school principals on successful strategies to accomplish the eight indicators on the Assessment standard for NEASC accreditation. The survey will include where the school is on the ten-year cycle and ask for best practices on at least one of the indicators the principal could choose.
5. Donna Hayward agreed to work up a draft survey that committee members can review.
6. The survey will be emailed to principals early in January with a due date back to CAS by January 30 in time for the committee to view the returns.
7. Next committee meeting date is Monday, January 30, at CAS at noon.
