14th Annual Elementary Celebration of the Arts

The 14th Annual Elementary Celebration of the Arts sponsored by Liberty Mutual will be held on February 5 and 6, 2013, at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. The theme for this year's festivities will be “A Carnival.”

This annual awards program is designed to recognize elementary students who demonstrate outstanding citizenship, cooperative skills, and artistic ability in the performing or visual arts.

To participate in this event, registration must be completed electronically. Simply click on the member-schools login link in the upper left-hand corner of this web page. Enter your school number and login ID and, after successfully logging in, select "Submit Elementary Celebration of the Arts Banquet Reservation Form."

Please provide the names of those who will be attending from your school including the names of the two students selected to receive awards. The students selected should have outstanding ability in the performing or visual arts, and their citizenship and cooperation skills should also be taken into consideration. It is recommended that the students selected to attend be in the last grade within your school.

MENU AND PROGRAM: The menu for the festival will be child-oriented. Food stations featuring tacos, pasta, salad, pizza, and ice-cream will be located in various areas of the banquet hall. Food will be served from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Arts-centered activities such as dance, balloon sculpture, visual arts, and face painting will keep guests well-engaged and entertained. Six caricaturists will create portraits of each award recipient. At 7:00 p.m. each evening, the award ceremony will begin. At 7:15 p.m. the children will be entertained by Ginga Brazilia, a nationally recognized Brazilian music and dance troupe. The program will end promptly at 8:00 p.m.

COST: The award recipients from each school will attend free of charge. The cost for all others attending will be $23.00 per person for all CAS-member schools. Non-member schools will pay an additional fee of $50.00 to attend the banquet. Parents or guardians, principals, classroom teachers, music and/or art teachers are also invited to attend.

RESERVATIONS: We expect that the vast majority of our elementary schools will participate. Your early response is appreciated, and we must receive your reservation no later than January 18, 2013.

Towns with names beginning with the letters A to M will attend on Tuesday, February 5. Towns with names beginning with letters N to W will attend on Wednesday, February 6. If there is a scheduling conflict, please notify the CAS office and we will be happy to try and accommodate your school on the other evening. In the event of inclement weather, the snow date is Monday, February 11th.
