Cas Excited By Bill Passage, School Improvement And Learning Opportunities

The Connecticut Association of Schools is pleased that the Legislature has worked with Governor Dannel Malloy, Commissioner of Education Stefan Pryor, and various educational stakeholder groups to develop and approve an Education Reform bill that will support school improvement and learning opportunities for all of the students in Connecticut.

We are especially supportive of the legislation that ensures a new evaluation system for teachers and administrators, the increased opportunities for families to enroll their children in pre-kindergarten education programs, and the initiatives to support interventions in our lowest performing school districts. Our association appreciates the long hours of thoughtful discussion that occurred leading up to the approval of this bill, and we thank the Legislature, the Governor and the Commissioner for soliciting opinions and ideas from the educational associations and the general public. We believe that everyone involved in this process has the best interest of our children at heart.

The Connecticut Association of Schools will continue to represent the voice of school leaders in Connecticut, and will support the work of educational reform that will lead to enhanced learning and the success of all of our state's children.
