Special Olympics has recently launched a new program which is entitled, "Be A Fan". The idea is that you can get involved with Special Olympics in one of four ways.

Join-Campaign to ban the "R" word (retard).
Volunteer- Get into the game. Play. Coach.
Share- Tell your story.
Support- Donate or raise funds.

We are lucky in CT to have so many different opportunities for students to get involved. Look at the listing of active programs on the Unified Sports webpage at casciac.org. Your school could host, supply volunteers or even form your own Unified Sports team and participate with other local schools. Your service club could raise funds to support a local team or to help defry costs of sponsoring events. The complete school calendar is on the website so check for an event near you.
