TRUMBULL -- Most valuable player Nate Quinn threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead the New Canaan High School football team to its third straight Class MM title with a 26-7 win over Darien Saturday at Trumbull High School.
Quinn completed 17 of 32 passes for 198 yards, and carried the ball 18 times for 97 yards.
New Canaan finished the season with a 13-0 record, the first undefeated record in coach Lou Marinelli's 28 seasons at the school.
It was the Rams' eighth state championship and the fifth under Marinelli.
Quinn threw scoring passes of 19 and 4 yards to Cody Newton, and had a 2-yard touchdown run.
Matt Gencarelli led the Blue Wave (11-2) with 88 yards on 10 carries.

NEW CANAAN -- Quarterback Nate Quinn ran for two touchdowns and passed for another as New Canaan, the No. 1 team in the state, defeated Weaver, 34-7, in the CIAC Class MM semifinals Tuesday night.
The top-seeded Rams (12-0), the two-time defending champions, will play their biggest rival, Darien, in the final on Saturday.
That game will come nine days after the teams met for the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference title. New Canaan won, 28-20.
Quinn, who completed 12 of 27 passes for 221 yards and one interception, scored on runs of 1 and 84 yards to cap off the scoring as the Rams ran off 34 unanswered points after Weaver (8-4) scored on the game's opening possession.
Quinn also hit Kurt Ondash for a 20-yard score. Ondash, one of the state's best receivers, had another big game, with six catches for 140 yards.

Quarterback Matt Wheelcock completed 14-of-18 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns for No. 3 seed Darien, which held off No. 2 Hillhouse 35-32 Tuesday night in the Class MM state semifinals at West Haven High's Ken Strong Stadium.
Darien (11-1) trailed 17-7 early in the third quarter, then scored 28 consecutive points to take a 35-17 lead with less than 2 minutes gone by in the final quarter. The last touchdown came on a fake field goal attempt with holder John Gardner hitting Cameron Ross for a 15-yard score.
But Hillhouse (11-1) answered back in two plays, both runs by Brandyn Wright, the latter a 13-yard touchdown. Marvin McClendon had the next touchdown for the Academics on a 54-yard pass from quarterback Bernard Risco on a fourth-down play.
Darien got the ball back with just under 4 minutes left in regulation and virtually ran the clock play. Hillhouse was finally able to take possession with 4 seconds left and had time left for one play before time expired.
