Play-based Learning for Superintendents & Assistant Superintendents

What is the impact on school districts of House Bill 6880, Section 4 (Play-Based Learning) during preschool, kindergarten, and grades one to five? During this collaborative session, we will discuss the implications of including play during the instructional day. An overview of play including definitions and examples of types of play as well as why it is important play and how it impacts other areas of learning will be provided. Policies, procedures, scheduling, budgeting, and supporting stakeholders will be a few of the topics explored during this workshop. Following the informational block, participants will engage in a meaningful discussion on considerations for implementation. The workshop will be facilitated by Karen Gray, an Educational Consultant with over two decades in public education and extensive experience as an administrator implementing play as well as providing professional development to districts in Connecticut on how to put play into practice.
