NEW BRITAIN -- Jacob Jablonski completed a halfback option pass to quarterback Marc Mignault for the game-winning touchdown Saturday and Ledyard withstood a furious last-ditch drive to hold on for a 21-14 win over Berlin in the Class M championship at Central Connecticut State University's Arute Field.

Jablonski, voted Ledyard's MVP, also intercepted a pass at the end of the third quarter that stopped a Berlin drive and led to the game-winning touchdown.

Trailing by a touchdown, Berlin (10-2) had the ball on its own 12 with 2:53 to go. After a brilliantly executed drive by quarterback Jim Connelly that included three fourth-down conversions, the Redcoats were faced with a fourth-and-goal from the 1 with 10 seconds left.

Just as halfback Jack Cooper approached the end zone, a hit by Brandon Ketcham jarred the ball loose. With two seconds to go, Ledyard quarterback Marc Mignault killed the clock.

Drew Hornberger (8 receptions, 134 yards, two-point conversion) was named the Berlin MVP.

Connelly completed 14 of 33 passes for 179 yards but was sacked five times, but managed just five completions for 55 yards in the second half when Berlin was shut out.

Running back Tim McNeil had 96 yards on 24 carries for Ledyard (10-1), two for touchdowns.

Cooper and Connelly had rushing touchdowns for the Redcoats.

BRISTOL - Jim Connelly threw for four touchdowns including the clincher with less than two minutes remaining Tuesday night to lead fourth-seeded Berlin to a 35-28 upset of previously unbeaten, top-seeded Bristol Eastern in a Class M semifinal at Muzzy Field.

Eastern (10-1) trailed by a point at halftime but took a 28-22 lead with 1:29 left in the third quarter on a 3-yard run by David Casanova.

But Connelly (21-for-36, 289 yards) directed a 14-play, 88-yard drive that resulted in the game-winning sequence. A four-yard touchdown run by Jack Cooper tied the score and Connelly's extra-point placement gave the Redcoats (10-1) a 29-28 lead.

The Berlin defense stuffed two fourth-quarter drives with the second setting Connelly and company up with 4:16 to go. Nine plays later, Connelly connected with Cam Johnson on a nine-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-6 with 1:49 left.
