West Haven - Alex Thomas ran 54 times for 240 yards and three touchdowns as top-ranked Ansonia repeated as CIAC Class S champions with a 35-0 win over third-seeded New London at Ken Strong Stadium.

It was a state-record 16th state title for Ansonia (13-0).

Thomas accounted for all but 10 of the Chargers. The record-setting tailback finished his career with state records for rushing yards in a season (3,578), touchdowns in a season (47), career rushing yards (8,261) and career touchdowns (114).

Ron Bilodeau completed 3 of 5 passes for 67 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

New London (11-1) had just 91 yards of offense.

Ansonia - Alex Thomas ran 28 times for 258 yards and touchdowns on two of his first three carries of the game as Ansonia posted a 25-7 win over Northwest Catholic in a CIAC Class S semifinal game at Jarvis Field in Ansonia.

Tom Pitney caught a 29-yard touchdown pas from Ron Bilodeau and Lorenzo Pittman added a five-yard touchdown run for Ansonia, who advances to Saturday's championship game against New London, who defeated Cromwell 34-14.

Northwest Catholic took a 7-6 lead when Jacob Golic caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Deane Spence with 1:42 left in the first half.

It was the first time Ansonia had trailed all season. The deficit lasted all of two plays and 30 seconds before Thomas' second his touchdown of the game from 49 yards out with 52 seconds left in the first quarter gave Ansonia a 12-7 lead.

Thomas ran for an 86-yard touchdown on Ansonia's first play from scrimmage to give Ansonia a 6-0 lead.

Jordan Reed completed 13 of 19 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns and added a 2-yard touchdown run as third-seeded New London beat Cromwell, 34-14, in its CIAC Class S semifinal at McVicar Field in Rocky Hill.

Reed threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Nick Singleton and an 18-yard touchdown to Dom Griffin for the Whalers (11-0).

Richie Vitale had 14 carries for 44 yards and two touchdowns for New London.

Bobby Jordan was 18 of 33 for 279 yards with a touchdown and interception for No. 2 Cromwell (10-1) and scored on a 3-yard run.
