WEST HAVEN -- Masuk amassed 557 yards of total offense and scored eight touchdowns to crush Newington 56-13 for the Class L championship at Ken Strong Stadium.
Alex Trump ran eight times for 100 yards and two touchdowns, Niko Guererra ran 12 times for 119 yards and a touchdown and quarterback Bob Baker completed 9 of 13 passes for 252 yards and four touchdowns. Masuk's defense, led by Mike Costello's two sacks, forced three turnovers and had three sacks of Newington quarterback Spencer Parker. Masuk (12-1) also forced three turnovers and a safety.
Chris Cosmedy and Bobby Ambrose had interceptions. R.J. Perimenis had a fumble recovery.
Trump scored on runs of 28 and 41 runs to give Masuk a 15-0 lead. Newington responded with Shane Leupold's 68 yard touchdown catch-and-run with 3:46 left in the first quarter.
But Masuk scored two straight touchdowns to take a 29-7 halftime lead and then poured it on with a 21-point third quarter.
Masuk was ahead 56-7 before Harrison Scully scored Newington's final run on a 2-yard dive late in the fourth quarter.
Newington, which was making its first championship appearance since 1991, had 244 yards of total offense. Parker led Newington with 87 yards on 14 carries and completed 3 of 10 passes for 71 yards and a touchdown.

TRUMBULL -- The top-seeded Masuk controlled every facet of the first half, piling up 44 unanswered points en route to a 50-15 victory over No. 4 Windsor in the a Class L semifinal at McDougall Stadium.
Masuk, which has been fueled all season by a loss in the 2007 Class L final to Bunnell, advances to play No. 2 Newington Saturday at a time and date to be determined.
Senior quarterback Bobby Baker threw for 211 yards and four touchdowns as the the Panthers (11-1) racked up 15 first downs and 216 yards of offense, while scoring on 5 of 6 possessions.
Thanks to Masuk's swarming defense led by Tony Dombrowski and Joe Haughton, Windsor only tallied two first downs and lost yardage on their final four possessions to finish the half with negative yardage.
Overall 59 of the 62 plays from scrimmage in the first half were run in Windsor territory, including at one point 34 in a row.
Courtney Silvera score both touchdowns late in the second half for Windsor.

NEWINGTON - Quarterback Spencer Parker ran for two touchdowns and third-seeded Newington's defense stifled No. 2 Simsbury's vaunted ground game in pulling a 28-7 upset Tuesday night in a Class L semifinal at Simsbury High School.
Parker guided the Indians 54 yards in eight plays on their first possession and scored on a quarterback sneak from the 3.
With Simsbury unable to move the ball and forced to punt from deep in its territory, Shane Leupold's 25-yard punt return gave Newington a short field. Parker scored o n another sneak from the 4 to give the Indians a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter.
Newington (10-2) opened the second half with a 13-play, 73-yard drive that consumed 6:45. Jimmy Dombrow scored from the 3.
Simsbury put together its first sustained drive of the game midway through the third quarter but Lawton Arnold fumbled on the 1. Leupold picked it up and raced 99 yards and Newington led 28-0.
The Trojans (9-3) scored on a 37-yard pass play from Kyle Decker to Colby Vanderbeck to avoid the shutout early in the fourth quarter.
Arnold, who ran for over 1,600 yards during the regular season, was held to 40 yards on 13 carries. Parker led the Newington attack with 86 yards on 17 carries.
